Here is a chart of the latest rig. Since last October I have been trying to get closer to an all-iPad setup for the main part of the signal chain and I finally reached that point a few months ago:
- An Akai LPK25 25-key keyboard plugs in via USB to a Lightning-to-USB camera adapter into an Retina iPad 4
- The iPad 4 is running NanoStudio
- Stereo audio is sent to the Line In on a Roland DUO-CAPTURE mk II
- USB powers the DUO-CAPTURE and also sends CoreAudio to another Lighting-to-USB camera adapter plugged into an iPad Mini
- The iPad Mini usually runs Retronyms TableTop or Elephant Candy’s LiveFX—see also my TableTop setup post
- Stereo audio is sent to a small Behringer Xenyx 502 mixer
- Main output from that is stereo Line Out
- For recording audio I capture the signal on the Tape Out to an Olympus LS-12 SD card recorder
New to the mix are some visual elements:
- Wall lighting comes from a pair Venue ThinPar 38 PAR lights—inspired by Rheyne
- Texture is a simple JavaScript-based squares array, source on GitHub
I hope this was interesting! 🙂
